Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) Updates

We want to share an important update about the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) with our families. This program helps eligible families pay for child care. As a result, parents and guardians can continue working, going to school, or joining job training programs.
The Department of Human Services is reopening CCAP with a limited number of available spots. The state plans to begin accepting applications for new children in January. Because spots are limited, families should review the details below and take action as soon as possible.
What Is CCAP and How It Supports Families
CCAP helps families cover the cost of child care. Through this support, children can attend safe and high-quality programs. At the same time, families can focus on work, education, or training. For many families, CCAP provides stability and peace of mind.
Who Can Apply for CCAP
Families must meet state and federal guidelines to qualify for CCAP. In general, eligible families:
-
Meet income requirements
-
Need child care to work, attend school, or take part in approved training
-
Have children under age 13, or under age 19 with special needs
-
Live in New Jersey
Because space is limited, the program will first serve:
-
Families with very low incomes
-
Families caring for children with special needs
-
Families experiencing homelessness
Federal and state law sets these priorities. However, the program may serve more families if space becomes available.
First Step: Complete the Registration Form
Families must start by completing the CCAP registration form, which is now available through the link below. This form places your family on the registration list. It does not guarantee approval, but it keeps your family eligible for future openings.
Submitting the form early matters. Families who register sooner may receive updates faster as spots open.
What Happens After Registration
Once CCAP reaches its current limit, the program will keep families on the registration list. Over time, new funding or openings may become available. When that happens, the program will contact families based on eligibility and space.
For this reason, families should keep their contact information up to date and check messages regularly.
