Born and raised in Paterson, Senator Benjie Wimberly attended our Paterson Clubhouse as a child, eventually graduating from Passaic County Technical Institute and Virginia State University with a degree in Sociology.
Since 1989 the Senator has been involved in his community through sports, working in coaching jobs at Paterson Catholic, Hackensack High School, and helping mentor fellow Club alum Victor Cruz on the NY Giants.
In 2010, Benjie began venturing into politics to serve his community, and was elected to Paterson’s city council after his former students rallied to support his campaign. All along, since his days as a football coach, Benjie has done everything in his power to support his community, helping organize and volunteer throughout the city and beyond in order to give back, and this continued as he joined the city council.
Today, this Club alum does BGCPP proud by serving as a Senator in the New Jersey Senate representing our community in the 35th district.
